Finance Officer
Responsibilities:
Overall Purpose
Working as a member of the Singapore and MBSW Finance team, undertaking a variety of duties with the main focus of producing accurate management accounts, maintaining Admin & Personnel policies and procedures and assisting the Centre Director and Financial Controller with other accounting elements as and when required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, ACCOUNTANBILITIES OR DUTIES
Client Service & Policy Development
* Production of monthly and year end accounts packs including any information required as part of the year end audit
* Review of Centre income and expenditure, comparing actual to budget figures
* To deal with a wide variety of enquiries from students, staff and other MBSW customers in a professional manner
* Provision of support to the Centre Director and Financial Controller as required and dealing with general finance queries
* Resolving queries that may arise with regards to finance via liaison with central finance, external suppliers and customers
* Maintain and develop when necessary Admin and Personnel policies, records and reports
Analysis & Reporting
* Undertaking general accounting duties, on a timely basis, to include:
o Coding and posting of supplier invoices
o Arranging and processing supplier payments
o Compiling and posting cash books
o Reconciliation of bank account and petty cash account
o Banking of cash/cheques
o Responsibility for the petty cash and accounting of
o Invoicing students as and when required
o Ensuring cash received from students is posted to the correct account
o Carrying out the credit control process, ensuring students pay as per the specified deadlines
o The control of fixed assets and produce depreciation calculation
o Producing and reviewing trial balance
o Assisting in the production of budgets and forecasts
o Any other reasonable duties as requested
* Undertaking general Personnel & Admin duties, such as monitoring, reporting and record keeping of: contracts, annual leave, sick & maternity leave, absenteeism, penalties, resignations, indemnities, payroll, working hours, OT, public holidays, etc
Planning & Organisation
* To ensure that the monthly and year end accounts packs are produced in a timely and efficient manner
* To plan and organise their own workload to ensure an efficient and effective service is provided to the school and liaison with the Centre Director and Financial Controller with regard to priorities.
* Aid in the migration of accounting software systems
* General administration duties
Finance/Resource Management
* Ensure accuracy during processing to reduce queries and possible corrections
* Ensure documents are processed on a timely basis to ensure accuracy of the monthly management accounts
* Ensure all Centre transactions are in accordance with MBSW financial policies and procedures
Liaison
* Liaison with external suppliers and students resolving issues and problems that arise
* To ensure a high level of customer-focused finance services to all staff, students and other stakeholders
* Liaison with Centre Director and his/her appointed representative in review of actual expenditure compared to budget
* Liaise with MBSW Finance
The post holder will also be required to:
* Present a professional image of MBSW at all times
* To undertake such other duties as may be determined by the Financial Controller and the Centre Director
* Occasionally work out of hours
Requirements:
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
1. Have four years previous experience of working in an accounting environment.
2. Possess strong computer skills and be proficient in the use of computerised accounting systems and spreadsheets
3. Be able to work independently and as part of a team
4. Be able to work to tight deadlines
5. Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to communicate with staff at all levels of seniority.
6. Demonstrate initiative and self-motivation.
7. Have the ability to manage and prioritise different workloads and meet any necessary deadlines.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
1. To have experience within the Higher Education sector
2. Ideally Bachelor of Accountancy, Finance, ACCA or CPA qualified
